Star Trek Phoenix and Sci-fi Party at the Shelter
Fan films are something that most geeks are very familiar with. They are usually a low budget version of something that vaguely resembles the original franchise that inspired it. However, there is such a thing as a good fan film.
Star Trek Phoenix, which is based on and inspired by the original Star Trek as created by Gene Roddenberry, is a professionally produced fan film. Produced by Seattle film production company Temporal Studios, in association with Sonnet Realm Films and Abundant Productions LLC., this is not your ordinary fan pic.
Star Trek Phoenix originally premiered in Seattle. However on Wednesday, June 9, Star Trek Phoenix will premiere right here in Atlanta.
The screening, presented by Fanboys Radio, will take place at the Shelter at 9:30pm. Doors open at 9, so get there early to get a good seat! Admission is free, and you must be 21 or older to enter.

Even if Star Trek isn't your favorite franchise, this film is definitely worth a viewing. It's so important to support independent filmmakers. And remember, these are fans that have dedicated their time and money into producing a film for others' enjoyment. Besides, how often do you get to attend a movie screening where you can order drinks from a bar?
After the screening is over, don't go anywhere! The fun continues at the Sci-Fi After Party at the Shelter!
The Sci-fi After Party begins at 11pm and goes until 3am. If you arrive early for the screening, there is no cover. If you arrive after 11pm the cover is $5.
Specialty drink specials have been concocted specificially for this event! These libations include the Vulcan Love Potion and the Vulcan Mind Probe. Their deliciousness will defy logic!
This is a sci-fi themed event, so wear your favorite sci-fi costume. If you show up in a sci-fi themed costume you will receive one well drink for $1!
DJ Davo will be spinning alternative dance and dance rock while Star Trek Phoenix replays on the bar screens. This party is going to be out of this universe!
The Shelter is located at 2101 Tula St. NW 30309, and there is plenty of free parking.
