Diamond Select Toys (DST) announced a new set of life sized prop replicas from the “Star Trek” films in a press release sent out this afternoon. Hinting at the company’s defection to the Klingon Empire, they will release two electronic replicas of the Klingon disruptor. This follows up on them releasing two highly detailed versions of the Klingon Bird of Prey.
According to DST the replicas will each feature three unique sound settings. Fans can choose between single shot, rapid-fire and disintegrate noises. Each disruptor will also include a flickering red LED muzzle that will light up in sync with the sound effects. The special features are demonstrated in the video below.
Star Trek fans are known for being picky about the details, and DST appears to have a made all efforts to bring them as accurate a Klingon disruptor as possible. A standard model based on its’ appearance in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” will be available online and at specialty retailers. Online retailer Action Figure Xpress will carry an exclusive version based on Klingon Commander Kruge’s personal weapon from "Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Kahn."
