'Star Trek' alum tackle the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Sir Patrick Stewart has become the most recent of the 'Star Trek' franchise alums to undertake the Ice Bucket Challenge, which was started to raise money and awareness for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehric's Disease).

While William Shatner was the first of the 'Star Trek' family to undertake the challenge, other 'Star Trek' participants have included Brent Spiner, Gates McFadden, and George Takei.

George Takei has one of the more creative takes on the Ice Bucket Challenge. After being nominated by Amazon's Jeff Bezos (who also nominated William Shatner and Patrick Steward), Mr. Takei decided to show Mr. Bezos how things are done in "Sci-fi land." His video, which can be viewed here, comes complete with 'Star Trek'-inspired action and green-screen effects.

Mr. Takei may get kudos for creativity, but Patrick Stewarts' is one of the more classy Ice Bucket Challenge videos out there. Seen above, it is an Ice Bucket Challenge that few could pull off this well. Hat's off to you, Mr. Stewart.
