Star of 'Capote,' Phillip Seymour Hoffman passes away at age 46

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman, best known for his roles in “Capote,” “The Big Lebowski,” “Magnolia,” and most recently, “The Hunger Games” has unfortunately passed away today, February 2, 2014. He was 46 years old.

Although the Chief Medical Examiner has yet to officially, announce the cause of death the New York Post is reporting that Hoffman was found with a needle in his arm after an apparent Heroin overdose. Although there are no other reports confirming the news, Hoffman has a history of heroin usage and checked into a drug rehabilitation facility last year for problems with prescription pill and heroin addictions.

Hoffman had a long and impressive Hollywood career as an actor and director. He won the Academy Award for best actor for in 2005 for his brilliant portrayal as the well-known author Truman Capote in “Capote.” Additionally, Hoffman earned three Tony Award nominations for performing in several plays including “Death of a Salesman” and directing other productions including, “In Arabia, We'd All Be Kings.”

Although Hoffman has passed away, his fans will be able to enjoy a few more of his performances in his upcoming films, “A Most Wanted Man,” and parts one and two of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.”

My deepest condolences go out to Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s family and all those affected by his untimely passing. Rest in Peace.

We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone. This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving. Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers.
