According to The Escapist on Wednesday, with the Marvel Studios "Guardians of the Galaxy" film just a few months down the road, it appears that a solo comic book character for Star-Lord will be making its debut. "Legendary Star Lord #1" will be released in July just a month prior to the film starring Chris Pratt by the same character name.

As of yet, there's not much about this comic book, not even the artwork is available for viewing. It is, however, written by Sam Humphries and the artwork is by Paco Medina. The cover art is drawn by Steve McNiven. This is the third comic book "Guardians of the Galaxy" related series along with "Rocket Raccoon" and the longer running "Guardians of the Galaxy". Recently a two-issue limited series starring Gamora and Nebula includes their own tie-in for the Marvel Cinematic Universe entitled."Guardians of the Galaxy Prelude". It tells a tale of their history together and how they become bitter enemies who had at one time had close ties to the Mad Titan, Thanos.

There is some great artwork currently by Humphries that include publications such as his self-published comic "Sacrifice" and a series called "Fanboys vs. Zombies" for Boom Studios. His works also include Marvel Comics projects such as "John Carter: The Gods of Mars" and was handed over the torch to take on writing for "Ultimate Comics Ultimates". Jonathan Hickman was Humphries predecessor.

Chris Pratt, who will be playing Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is starring in the film debuting in August. The story line there entails Peter Quill teaming up with his first time encounters, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. The film trailer entails a brief biography/profile of each character and later on a short trailer displaying Quill making a quick getaway from Korath the Pursuer. Both pieces of footage end with the song by Blue Swede "Hooked on a Feeling".
