Established in 2012 as a local version of, and/ or alternative to, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, The Star-Ledger/NJ.com Rock & Pop Hall of Fame has announced its inductees for 2013.
The list is as follows: Les Paul, The (Young) Rascals, Connie Francis, and Naughty By Nature.
The Ledger and NJ.com have expressed the opinion that a number of artists from The Garden State have been conspicuous in their absence from Cleveland's Rock Hall, among them: Bon Jovi, Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band.
Last year they moved to right these slights by inducting all of the above plus The Four Seasons, The Shirelles, South Side Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, The Smithereens, Kool and the Gang, The Fugees, George Clinton, Frank Sinatra, and of course The Boss himself, into their hall of fame for New Jersey's own.
The reunion of this years' inductees The Rascals, as enabled by New Jersey musician /actor Steven Van Zandt, and their Broadway musical production Once Upon a Dream, make them a particularly timely as well as deserving choice.
