Star Alliance launches new Micronesia Airpass

Travelers and Star Alliance members who are looking to maximize their time in Micronesia, while still earning air miles towards status, have something new to cheer about.  On Monday, Star Alliance announced the arrival of the new Micronesia Airpass.

The Micronesia Airpass will help connect travelers and Star Alliance members to more islands in the Pacific Ocean.  Under the pass, you can purchase from three up to 10 flights on the Continental and United Network.  Choose from over 20 destinations in Asia and Micronesia. Destinations include:

Asia: Japan, hong Kong, Manila, Nadi, and Cairns

Micronesia: Guam, Federated States of Micronesia (Kosrae, Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap), Marshall Islands (Kwajalein Atoll, Majuro), Northern Mariana Island (Rota, Saipan), and Palau.

“Travellers visiting Micronesia in the past had limited choice of air travel and had to purchase separate tickets on different airlines to get to this part of the world,” said Christopher Korenke, vice president commercial at Star Alliance. “Through the Star Alliance network, passengers can now travel on any of the member carriers serving the designated gateways and connect to the Continental Airlines and United network in Micronesia.”

Micronesia is made up of thousands of small islands and is considered a subregion of Oceania.  A tropical paradise skipped over by many travelers, Micronesia is a hot spot with scuba divers who have found these islands to be home to some of the best dive spots in the world.
