Team spirit is even stronger when it is fortified with the holiday spirit. The teams that play at STAPLES Center are getting an extra infusion of holiday spirit from the LA Kings Holiday Ice Rink and a series of events that began with this evening’s holiday tree lighting ceremony. Fox Sports commentator Erin Andrews was on hand with L.A. Kings mascot Bailey to welcome the crowd that came to view the spectacular tree lighting ceremony and welcome special guests cheering this year’s launch of the AEG Season of Giving.
L.A. City Council representative Cullen Price joined the festivities with an invitation to visit the Council District office and join in the toy drive. L.A. Kings General Manager and NHL legend Luc Robataille joined the tree lighting team and explained how the L.A. Kings support local charities as part of the AEG Season of Giving team effort.
The festive center of downtown Los Angeles is bringing a Winter Wonderland and the excitement of Winter Sports to Angelenos who can only see snow from downtown skyscrapers. Visitors will notice the presence of a recent addition to the neighborhood, the City Target retail center on Figueroa. It is very visible at L.A. Live as the sponsor of the snowboard track. Skaters are creating their own winter wonders on the L.A. Kings Holiday Ice, the largest skating rink in Los Angeles. It opened last weekend and will operate just until after New Year’s on January 2. The attractions are giving local sports fans even more good reasons to visit STAPLES Center and see our local teams, the L.A. Kings, L.A. Lakers and L.A. Clippers.
