Things didn't change much from last week for the Stanford women's basketball program: The Cardinal was ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press poll released on Monday, the second straight week the Cardinal occupied the fourth spot, which is the ranking Stanford held in the preseason poll. And Stanford junior Chiney Ogwumike won the Pac-12 player of the week honor again.
Ogwumike won the weekly conference honor for the second straight week and for the fifth time this season, setting a conference record for the most player of the week honors in a single season. It's also her eight player of the week honor overall, leaving her just one behind the conference record set by former Stanford star Jayne Appel.
Ogwumike had a career-high 32 points and 18 rebounds in the 20-point win over Oregon State on Sunday, and she had 22 points and 13 boards in the Cardinal's easy victory over Oregon on Friday.
This week's AP rankings were similar to last week's top 25. Baylor is still No. 1, followed by No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Connecticut, with Cal still No. 6. Cal and Stanford are two of four Pac-12 teams in the top 25, with UCLA at No. 17 and Colorado at No. 21. The coaches poll will not come out until late Monday or Tuesday, but it seldom varies from the AP poll.
