Stanford women back to No. 4 in rankings

Stanford moved back up to No. 4 in this week's Associated Press women's basketball poll released Monday, advancing two spots from last week's No. 6 spot.

Stanford beat Utah and Colorado at home this past week, and losses by Duke and Kentucky enabled the Cardinal to get back to the No. 4 spot, which was Stanford's ranking in the preseason.

Cal moved up a spot to No. 6, making the Pac-12 one of two conferences with two teams in the top six, joining Connecticut and Notre Dame of the Big East.

However, the biggest sign of respect for the Pac-12 was displayed by Colorado's No. 22 ranking. Even though the Buffaloes got swept by Cal and Stanford last week, they dropped only two spots in the ranking with their current 15-4 record.

UCLA is ranked 18th.
Baylor, whose only loss was against Stanford, continues to hold the No. 1 ranking, with Notre Dame second and UConn third.

Also Stanford's Chiney Ogwumike was named Pac-12 player of the week. It's the fourth time this season and the seventh time in her career she's earned that honor.
