Stanford gets one on Mackey watch list

Stanford football placed one player on the Mackey Award watch list which is given to the best tight end in college football. 6-foot-8 Levine Toilolo was added to the list

The surprise is that Stanford did not get two players on the list, or with just the one nomination, Zach Ertz was not involved.

Toilolo had 25 receptions last season for 343 yards. Six of those catches went for touchdowns.

With Coby Fleener gone to the NFL, Toilolo is expected to have a bigger role in the offense. He is probably a little ahead of Ertz when it comes to blocking making him the more well rounded tight end.

Ertz is a ball catching machine. Ertz style is closer to Fleener. He missed three games due to injury last year. In his 10 games played he had 27 receptions for 346 yards and four touchdowns.

Both tight ends will see plenty of action for the Cardinal this season and make a nice 1-2 punch for whoever ends up playing quarterback
