Joshua 6:20-21 (NKJV)
So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
When something is not working as expected, it is human nature to begin to inspect that which is not functioning properly in an effort to fix the problem. If you believe that something has the ability to operate by design, then you will work to make it happen according to its plan and purpose. I am a fixer. Give me a problem and I love to find a solution to make things better. So when faith was not working as I saw fit and plans coming together as I assumed that they would, it was time to inspect my faith comparing it to the Word of God (Book of Instructions) to find out what was wrong. Was there sin in my life? Had I missed something pertinent along the way? Did I become distracted or detoured? What’s the problem, Lord? If you believe that the Word of God is true and that every promise belongs to you then you will work to attain it. I believe that the Word of God is basic instruction to total and complete fulfillment according to God’s Plan and the Grace of Jesus Christ so why wasn’t it working like I though it should? I would make a startling revelation.
There are times even in a strong Christian’s life that you will become weak and tired. Pressing into the Presence of God seems laborious and excruciating as it is difficult to make the connection. The Holy Spirit seems silent inside of you being of no help at all. Where is the Lord? What is He doing? Well, He is holding up the wall. What do you mean holding up the wall? If He let it go today, you and I would be standing in the way. Huh? When the walls of Jericho were destroyed by God, He laid them flat intentionally. So the people could just walk into the Promised Land which was a city filled with people. They would not have to waste precious time finding a way through the wall, trying to climb over the wall, crashing through the wall or removing the waste and rubble. No, God allowed His People to use the wall to step into their Promise. If the people had left their position of prayer and praise, then they would have been crushed when the walls came crashing down. God doesn’t need our help. He does not need our input. The Lord just needs our faith and trust to get the job done and stay out of the way while He completes it.
John 14:1-7 (NLT)
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
The biggest “problem” in the Body of Christ today is unbelief. People do not trust God anymore. They do not know the Lord therefore it is difficult to believe that He will do exactly what He says that He will do in His Word. Ignorance truly will cause people to perish as they devise their own way to God through Jesus Christ the Son rather than deciphering the Truth with the guidance of His Spirit. Doctrine dictates more lives than divine inspiration. God is a Spirit. The Spirit of God lives in you to make a connection with Him. Jesus promised that when everything is ready, I will come for you. But this did not line up with the expectations of the disciples according to their plan, so they had some concerns. The Lord’s answer is simple. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Problem solved right? Not really because for ages, people have tried to own grace and make up their own way to God according to personal comfort rather than totally committing to the Way of the Lord. The Lord promised that when “everything” was ready that He would return to get His People. If you really want to know Jesus Christ and His Way, you must make it a priority to know His Word and seek His Face. You cannot have His Plan your way. Trying to will stop God’s Plan while you work things out or move out of the way so God can finish “everything” to perfection. God made the way back to righteousness quite easy, why do people insist on making it more difficult? Find Jesus and you will know the Way to every promise that He has for you!
John 10:9-11 (NLT)
Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.”
The only way to remove every barrier between you and God is Jesus Christ. You cannot come back to God except by repentance which is a trip to the Cross and through the Blood of Jesus. Repentance is difficult. It is messy. It will take some time to fully work out our salvation with fear and trembling as waves of grace wash over us. But it is the only way to restore a right relationship with God and live in the prosperity of His Kingdom. Anyone who tries to get to God any other way is considered a thief or robber whose intent is to steal, kill and destroy. Do not be like those people who trample grace and pretend to repent hoping to trick God into opening His Hand of Blessing in their life. Such people belong to darkness and their actions do not line up with the Children of Light. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who steers His Fold clear of danger and protects them with His Life. His Purpose is to give you a rich and satisfying life. So as strongholds and barriers “fall flat” it is imperative that we rest in the fold trusting and obeying the Lord as He prepares all that He has promised.
Zechariah 4:6-7 (NLT)
Then he said to me, “This is what the LORD says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel’s way; it will become a level plain before him! And when Zerubbabel sets the final stone of the Temple in place, the people will shout: ‘May God bless it! May God bless it!’”
Before the strongholds, barriers and walls come down in your life, you must have a firm foundation. The foundation is faith. Jesus Christ must become the cornerstone of our life. “When Zerubbabel sets the final stone of the Temple in place…” Jesus is that finished stone. He is the one the builders rejected but we recognize as the Truth. This Stone has been tested and passed. We can build our life on Jesus because He is safe, secure and strong. (Isaiah 28:16) Whoever believes enough to build their life on the solid foundation of faith in Jesus Christ will never be shaken or moved by the circumstances or consequences of life because they see past the light, momentary and temporary to that which is Eternal and Forever. We must stop trying to tear down walls with our own hands and in our own strength. The Blessing of the Lord makes a man rich AND adds no sorrow with it. (Proverbs 10:22) The problem is not in the promise but people’s inability to wait on the Lord to perfect the plan including every single detail. God begins to work on the walls in our life, but like children we rush in to try to wiggle out a stone so the Lord withholds our breakthrough until we have enough faith to get out of the way and let God have His Way. The mightiest of mountains will “become a level plain before Him!” Not by might nor by power but by MY SPIRIT says the Lord. When are we going to stop trying to give God a hand and help the Lord out? When we lay a firm foundation of faith that allows us to stand and wait on the Lord! We must lay an expert foundation of faith to build our life on if we want to experience the overcoming power of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 7:24) Jesus asked, “Why do you keep calling me Lord but you do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46) God’s Plan is God’s Way. Jesus Christ is the only way to access God’s Plan, Promise, Potential and Purpose for your life. There is no other way! His Spirit is doing all the work in you and around you to perfect these things and make them come to pass in your life. You will never be properly positioned until your life is based solely on a firm foundation of faith in Jesus Christ that produces confident hope allowing you to hold your position and wait on the Lord. Otherwise, you are in danger of getting in God’s Way. Those who have faith in the Lord to such a degree will sing and praise God in the worst of circumstances, but when the Lord comes He is precise and exact. He will set you free. He will open doors. He will remove the “shackles” that once held you back. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17) It may seem as though all hell is breaking loose in your life but hold your position. It is the Lord making His Way straight, plain and level in your life. (Acts 16:25-27) Real freedom comes from faith in Jesus and restored righteousness with God. “Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.” (Psalm 37:5 AMP)
Romans 3:22-26 (NLT)
We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.
The world in which we live and the church we attend are filled with imperfect people. It doesn’t matter how “perfect” they seem. I release you in the Name of Jesus Christ from fixing your own life. You cannot change you only Jesus can transform you by the washing of His Word and His Blood that was shed. You are healed by His Stripes. You are set free by His Spirit. You do not have to “do” anything except have faith in the Lord Jesus. Faith is enough. It is more than enough. It will supply everything you need and fulfill the desire of your heart. The lie of the enemy is that we have to clean up our life to experience God’s Goodness but according to His Grace. We don’t have to clean up our life. Remove the unsightliness but simply learn to love and trust Him more. His Grace is sufficient. The Lord is good to those who depend on Him and search for Him (Lamentations 3:25-26) so wait patiently as He works in and through you to do what pleases Him (Philippians 2:13) rather than trying to do all the “right” things choose to allow the Lord to make you the right person! Lord turn my eyes from “worthless things” to that which is Eternal. (Psalm 119:37) This is revealed in God’s Word. Stop working harder and work smarter. You have a Big Book of Instruction so why not use it. God is making everything work for the good of His People (Romans 8:28) so why not choose to do good! And for goodness sake, stop standing in the way! God’s Undeserved Kindness, His Favor, belongs to you because of the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ. His Blood is perfect. His Grace is sufficient. If you will choose to live by faith and believe the Word of God trusting His Way – then you my friend will move out of the way and all those walls that keeping you from your promise will fall flat. The battle does not belong to you – it is the Lord’s!
John 16:33 (NLT)
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
