I was at the gas station and a 1928 Ford run about convertable was there getting gas. It was in Proof condition as a car, as a coin it would of glowed. No scratches no mars the tires were jet black. I thought of the 1928 Standing Liberty Quarter. There should of been one glued to the car.
2,644,000 minted in San Francisco that year. 1,627,000 in Denver. Have not been able to find the amount in Philadelphia. But the Denver was 20 % so over 3 million at an educated guess. The current ebay price for used was 8 bucks to 40 bucks in poor condition. Good to fine was 300 up. I would go for one or two fine and a bunch of poors and be happy to have a lot. But each their own. No one knows how many dates made it through. Just as the buffalo nickels lost dates from being too high, the quarters are vunerable, not as bad. But most of the ones I saw were faded.
The best way to protect your quarters is an acrylic case, and get the good to fine ones graded and certified. You can always sell them for maximum then.
