"It was so much more than what I expected," says author Darlene Collier of Brandon who came to see the movie with her grandson. "Jackie's courage and belief in God is definitely inspiring."

"The movie was life-changing," says recording artist Joshua McClain, also of Rankin County, who brought his family to see the film. "Will definitely be telling my friends about it."

Based on actual events, “Stand Your Ground” is a riveting courtroom drama based on a real family’s personal trial of faith against all odds. When Jackie Carpenter’s (played by actress Francine Locke) son Jason (played by Drew Matthews) is accused of murder, she fights against the odds to free him; but when the prosecution seeks a life sentence, Jackie’s and Jason’s world spins into turmoil sending them on parallel journeys of wavering faith and tentative hope. “Stand Your Ground” is the true story of tragedy, trust and triumph, and of a cry for justice.

Before its official release the movie is already the recipient of many awards and accolades, including Best Screenplay at Los Angeles New Wave International Film Festival 2012, Gideon Film Festival 2013 Official Selection, Best Picture at Peachtree Village International Film Festival 2013, Bronze Best Drama at ICVM Crown Awards 2013, and Best Screenplay at Alaska International Film Festival.

The movie is based on Jackie Carpenter’s books, Bridge to a Miracle and Georgia Justice, and is a production of Triple Horse Studios and Gift Box Productions. Hosted by Conversations Book Club, Carpenter visited Mississippi while promoting both her books in 2011. It is her hope that the movie and her family's story will be of inspiration to everyone who is having to stand against the darkness of the world.

The movie can be seen Saturday and Sunday at Cinemark Tinseltown USA (411 Riverwind Dr) at 11:05a.m., 1:40p.m., 4:25p, 7:20p and 9:55p. For more information contact Cyrus Webb at cawebb4@juno.com or 601.896.5616.
