Remember that positively heart-wrenching episode back in November that left us all in tears? Of course you do. It's unforgettable.
Just released today is the list of nominees for the 16th Annual PRISM Awards, and both Stana Katic and Jon Huertas have been nominated for awards for Performance in a Drama Episode, and the episode "Kill Shot" (written by Alexi Hawley) for Drama Series Episode - Mental Illness. PRISM Awards honor performances in television and film for accurate portrayals of substance abuse, addiction and mental illness.
If you've forgotten, or missed the episode (which in that case, go watch it now!), "Kill Shot" featured Kate Beckett experiencing very intense and debilitating bouts of hypervigilance and other symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from her shooting in last season's finale "Knockout". It's only after the gentle guidance of Esposito, and a confrontation with the sniper rifle that shot her, that Kate is able to pull herself together again and get back to solving the sniper case. At the end of the episode, Kate confesses to her therapist, Dr. Burke (played by Michael Dorn), that she's let her mother's case drive her life decisions, and that now, she wants to "be more" than who she's become. The episode concludes with Kate affirming that she's ready to let go and start living her life again.
Winners will be announced on April 19th at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California. Good luck, Stana, Jon and the rest of the Castle crew!
