The hills - and downtown - are alive with the sound of free live music. Stan Ridgway and Michelle Shocked light up Pershing Square's stage on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 8PM - 11PM. Lift your spirits with some music voodoo.
Singer/songwriter/guitarist, Stan Ridgway, originally fronted the punk band, Wall of Voodoo. You're probably familiar with his accidental MTV hit song, I'm on a Mexican Radio. Ridgway's new solo album is Neon Mirage, but he'll also be performing some of his classic songs and Wall of Voodoo faves in this Desert of Dreams.
With songs like The L & N Don't Stop Here Anymore and Memories of East Texas, Michelle Shocked sings about what it's like to grow up in the rural Lone Star State. Her original song, Quality of Mercy, graced the soundtrack for Dead Man Walking. Wade in the Water and hear what Shocked has to say with her most recent CD, Soul of My Soul.
