According to The Atlantic Wire on Sept. 18, an interview with Stan Lee revealed that the Black Widow character from "The Avengers" film as played by Scarlett Johansson might be getting her own movie. But first things first, she would have to wait until a good amount of not so popular male superheroes would get their own films before she gets a shot.
"They are going to do the Black Panther. They are going to use Doctor Strange. They are going to do Ant-Man. They are going to do the Guardians of the Galaxy. And they’ll probably do the Inhumans".
Lee was referring to the already planned films and doesn't seem as quite enthused about the idea of Black Widow having her own film.
"Well probably at one time ... they’ll make a movie of the Black Widow. The thing is the women like these movies as much as the guys, so we don’t have to knock ourselves out to find a female ... but we will".
That being said, it appears that Lee undercuts the male audience even though there are movies that have already come out or up and coming such as the "The Hunger Games" sequel and "Underworld" which apparently had been a major hit with even the male audience which goes to show box office numbers are sometimes due in part of the male fans making their appearance to view the film.
