Stampeders sign Adrian McPherson

According to the Canadian Press, the Calgary Stampeders have solidified their quarterback position by signing Adrian McPherson from the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League on Monday.

The Stampeders were in need of a quarterback after they lost Kevin Glenn to the Ottawa RedBlacks in the expansion draft.

McPherson has Canadian Football League experience as he spent five years from 2008-2012 as the backup to Anthony Calvillo in Montreal. He will probably be the backup in Calgary too as it appears that Drew Tate and Bo Levi Mitchell would be ahead of McPherson on the Stampeders' depth chart.

The acquisition of McPherson was impressive on Monday by Stampeders general manager John Hufnagel because the 2013 Canadian Football League season proved that teams could not have enough experienced quarterbacks on their roster. Only Henry Burris of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats played the entire season without suffering an injury.

In five seasons in Montreal, McPherson completed 145 passes in 243 attempts, with ten touchdowns and six interceptions.
