Stampeders release Bryant Wednesday

According to Ian Busby of the Calgary Sun, the Calgary Stampeders have released wide receiver Romby Bryant.

Bryant, who has spent the last three years with the Stampeders, and prior to that two years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, is 33 years of age. The age factor probably came into play here as Stampeders General Manager John Hufnagel decided to go with the younger and emerging Joe West and Maurice Price instead.

On Wednesday the Stampeders also announced they were able to sign defensive back Adam Berger from Simon Fraser University. Berger, a defensive back, was the Stampeders' fourth round pick in the 2012 Canadian Football League Canadian draft.

The Stampeders have also been able to re-sign place kicker Rene Paredes, defensive linemen Junior Turner and Justin Phillips, wide receiver Marquay McDaniel, punt returner Larry Taylor, and punter Rob Maver since the end of the 2012 Canadian Football League season.
