According to the Calgary Stampeders website, the Calgary Stampeders have named Gordon Norrie as their new president, replacing Lyle Bauer who resigned on January 23.
Norrie was most recently the Executive Vice President of Western Operations for Sun Media and was also the former publisher of the Edmonton Sun and Calgary Sun. According to Stampeders Co-Chairman Ken King, Norrie understands the business side of the Canadian Football League extremely well.
In other Stampeders news, it was announced on Thursday that two former Calgary Stampeders will be inducted into Canadian Football Hall of Fame for 2013. They are offensive linemen Miles Gorrell and Dan Ferrone.
Gorrell, who went to Henry Wise Wood Senior High School in Calgary, played for the Stampeders from 1978-1982 before going on to play 15 more CFL seasons with Ottawa, Montreal, Hamilton and Winnipeg.
Ferrone played with the Stampeders in 1989 and was a CFL Western Division all-star. Ferrone played the majority of his CFL career in Toronto.
