According to TSN on Monday, the Calgary Stampeders lost three starters from their outstanding 2013 squad last season in the Canadian Football League expansion draft.

With their selections, the Ottawa RedBlacks chose Stampeders quarterback Kevin Glenn, offensive lineman J'Michael Deane and veteran safety Eric Fraser.

Glenn led the Stampeders with 2710 yards passing in 2013. He also completed 223 passes in 335 attempts with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Glenn was one of two quarterbacks selected by the RedBlacks, joining British Columbia Lions' backup Thomas DeMarco.

Other players with Calgary connections who the RedBlacks selected on Monday included Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker James Green, Edmonton Eskimos long snapper Aleksander Krausnick-Groh, and Montreal Alouettes linebacker Jordan Verdone, who each attended the University of Calgary. Krausnick-Groh is also a Calgary native. The RedBlacks also have former Stampeders' defensive co-ordinator Rick Campbell as their head coach and former Stampeders' offensive line coach Mike Gibson as their offensive co-ordinator.

The Canadian Football League is returning to Ottawa in 2014 for the first time since 2005.
