Most homeowners will have this list of items  already in their home. Some may prove to have more than one purpose, and its always good to use what you already have. Using natural remedies in your endless battle with dirt and stains in the home is ideal. However, some stains require a little more attention. Here is a list of the most common items you probably already have and a few of their abilities to clean in your home.

Baking Soda - Cleaning a ceramic cook top. Simply sprinkle lemon juice over it and some baking soda, let it sit for a while and scrub it with a sponge that is safe for ceramic cook tops. Works as good as anything else you will find currently being sold.
Lemon Juice -Great to use in iced tea and for lemonade, but also great for cleaning and freshening your microwave. I like to use the plastic lemon, and squirt the inside of my microwave with it, then put in a Pyrex measuring cup with water and heat long enough for the water to boil. Let it steam the inside of your microwave for half and hour afterward. Once this is over, I clean out my microwave and it smells great and squeaky clean to boot! Lemon juice is also great with baking soda for cleaning metals, just spot check in an inconspicuous area first. Its also great inside your refrigerator and also poured into your garbage disposal with some baking soda to freshen it up.
Degreaser -Degreaser will get stains out where all else fails. Keep it handy for just those occasions. It is wonderful for cleaning the mesh metal screens on a range hood. Place them in your sink, and spray copious amounts all over and let it stand for a while..come back with a kettle of boiling water and flush them out..It works great..Remember that is often concentrated and needs to be diluted. For the exact dilution, check the bottle.
Rubbing Alcohol-Takes out ink. Just make sure you flood the area and use patience..It is a good idea to  always spot check. It is  great for sanitizing your hands, on trips it is a cheap alternative to have in a spray bottle for your family to use in public bathroom on questionable toilets, tubs and sinks, and also on the kids hands if you don't have hand sanitizer. Just make sure to follow up with some hand lotion so your hands wont dry out.  Bring it camping too.
Furniture Polish-Buff up your granite, shine up your vinyl, wipe down laminate, on the leather interior and vinyl dash of your car ..works great and smells wonderful too.
Household Bleach- The obvious places are bathrooms and kitchens, for your whites in the laundry, and any time you need to kill bacteria..like on your counter tops. While cleaning your kitchen it is convenient to keep a sink filled with 3 parts water and one part bleach whenever handling raw meat. Its a great way to keep the germs to a minimum when you do clean up.
Cooking oil-Cooking oil can be used if you run out of furniture polish, make sure not to use too much a little goes a long way. It is also good for shining up the dull plastic on your coffee maker and other kitchen appliances too. Cooking oil and baking soda combined together in a paste make a nice scrub for your face, just remember to wash your face thoroughly after and keep away from your eyes.
White Vinegar-Good for all the same things Lemon juice is great for, use it as a substitute if you don't have Lemon juice for cleaning.

I love your ideas! Great article. I use white vinegar already for a multitude of tasks. I'll try your other options.

These are all my favorite household items. I try to stick with the more natural ones like vinegar and baking soda, and only use bleach as necessary. But sometimes it's necessary. Anyway, great round-up (as in gathering resources not using toxic herbicides) and as always for giving us even more ideas for how to use them. BTW, is Richard off his meds again?.... ;-)
