Staging Your Comeback - A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45

Forget what the title says, this book isn't just for women over 45.  It's a book for any woman who would like to age gracefully, always looking and feeling her best.  Written with the concept of taking your inner beauty and expressing it through your outer appearance, Hopkins takes women through a witty journey of being the best they can be.

Known worldwide as "The Makeover Guy," thanks to his many appearances on national shows such as The Today Show and Oprah, Hopkins has made a career out of changing the lives and the appearances of women. While other beauty gurus jump on the bandwagons of the latest trends and fashion for the younger demographic, Christopher Hopkins focuses on women over the age of 45.  Rather than dismiss their age and the possibility that aging can be beautiful, Hopkins embraces the challenge of showing women how to truly be beautiful at any age, size, or shape.

Staging Your Comeback - A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45 is more than just a book that will be casually read and tossed aside.  It's a workbook, a narrative, and an educational manual all wrapped in with witty prose and real-life examples.  The photos in the book are of real women being made over. They have real problems that any woman can identify with, and the solutions Hopkins and his team of professionals provide are realistic.  Most of the solutions to common beauty problems found in Staging Your Comeback are easy fixes, such as changing a hemline length or softening a lipstick color.  They aren't outrageous and they don't cost a fortune.

Unlike other beauty books that talk solely about hair and makeup, Hopkins takes beauty to the next level, by teaching women how to identify the clothing, colors, and textures that work best for them.  This alone is worth the price of the book, in that it saves many women from making costly mistakes on a shopping trip.  If you have ever bought something only to see it hang in your closet with the tags still attached, Hopkins' book can prevent that from ever happening again.

While some of the extra author photos come across as gratuitous space-fillers, and some of the stories begin start to sound  repetitive, I am not convinced that is the fault of the author, or that it would qualify as a "con" to buying the book.  The advice written in Hopkins' beauty bible would take many costly consultations and years to find on your own.  Better yet, the paperback allows for you to take notes, highlight sections, and carry it with you when you are still getting familiar with what makes you look and feel your best.

Overall, this book is highly recommended for women (and men) of any age who want to find practical solutions to their major beauty and image concerns.  Hopkins walks the reader through step-by-step instructions, making you feel like you have your own personal beauty guru right at your side.  His practical tips, such as how to make thin hair look thicker, or how to look ten pounds thinner just by the way you dress hit home for many people.  Though Staging Your Comeback targets women over 45, there is no reason that anyone who feels frumpy, a little unsexy, or just like they need an update shouldn't own this book.
