In its 58 years of bringing top-drawer entertainment to the stage, and almost 30 years at the Baldwin Theatre, the Stagecrafters troupe of community players has undergone more than a few transformations. But for their recently announced 2014-2015 season, they are making it official. “Transformations” is the theme that pulls together such diverse Broadway musicals as “My Fair Lady,” “Spring Awakening” and “Next to Normal.” There are dramas and children’s theatre as well. Even the venerable Baldwin Theatre will see some upgrades.

The new season lineup was announced by Stagecrafters’ production vice president Randall Wrisinger on March 9, 2014 to an audience of more than 120 people. Prior to the season announcement, Wrisinger and executive director Mary Ann McCourt welcomed Sen. John Pappageorge (R-Troy) to the stage where he thanked Stagecrafters for their continued commitment to providing entertainment to the community.

In keeping with the “transformations” theme, the Baldwin Theatre will undergo a physical change as the aging orchestra pit will be renovated with the aid of $24,000 grant funding awarded by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs.

“We are very excited to present another season of professional community theatre to our subscribers and patrons,” said Stagecrafters executive director Mary Ann McCourt. “It will truly be a season of transformation as we begin the orchestra pit renovation in June. The expansion will allow for larger orchestras and even more accomplished, polished performances at the historic Baldwin Theatre.”
