Stag Tobacconist in Scottsdale hosted a benefit event on Thursday afternoon for the 100 Club of Arizona with local author Randy E. King.
King is the author of seven books, his latest of which is Left, Center, Right: What is Best for America? King describes it as a book that focuses on "developing America in four areas: personal, professional, political and children's success in order to preserve the great legacy of this country."
"I'm proud to support the people that protect this community," he said about his involvement in the fund raiser.
The 100 Club is a charitable organization that supports the families of law enforcement and firefighters who are injured or killed in the line of duty. In the past forty years, they have donated more than $5 million through their benefits and programs. They rely on a mix of corporate sponsorship, individual donations, memberships and events like the one at Stag to fund their work.
"Having support from businesses in the community is so important to us," said Laura Contreras, who handles community relations for the 100 Club. "Everyone who walks through the door today is part of our community, and we're proud to support those who protect our community when they are in need," she added.
Stag's owner, Rick Hopkins, had buy three, get one free specials running during the event on Ashton, La Aroma de Cuba and San Cristobal cigars, and donation a portion of the sales during the event to the 100 Club.
"I'm very happy to be able to support the 100 Club - they provide a great service to important members of our community," Hopkins added.
Streets of New York Pizza provided food for the event, while Elements Therapeutic Massage provided complimentary chair massages for attendees.
