While layoffs certainly has been evident in small businesses due to the economic crisis, it has also reached its tentacles in Hollywood as well as the Weinstein Co. issued pink slips to some of its staffers.
The consulting firm Miller Buckfire & Co. were brought in three months ago to examine the company's financial options. In spite of the success of the current release "Inglourious Basterds", the decision was made to let some personnel go.
"We regret that anyone has to lose his or her job, but this is part of our announced plan to streamline the company", a reprensentative said.
The four-year old company was founded by Bob and Harvey Weinstein after the brothers split from Miramax.
