Stacy Keibler's pregnancy fitness secrets include prenatal Pilates and a low-carb, gluten-free Paleo-inspired diet.
Keibler has been chronicling her pregnancy diet and workout tips on Instagram for the past few months, and revealed she does Pilates and stretches daily.
"Thank you to my fabulous trainer @bodybynonna for keeping me in shape through my pregnancy!" Keibler wrote.
In another post, Stacy reminded pregnant women to make sure they stretch, saying she devotes at least 15 minutes every day to stretching. Keibler also discussed the importance of eating healthy fats, to enhance the health of both pregnant women and their babies.
"Healthy fats help feed your baby's growing nervous system," Keibler wrote with the photo of ghee, or clarified butter (a Paleo favorite). "Try drizzling ghee over your popcorn or add a heaping to your cauliflower mash!"
Paleo Diet Is Twice as Effective for Weight Loss and Burning Belly Fat
Stacy has not publicly stated she's Paleo, but said she follows a gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free diet, which lines up exactly with Paleo principles.
The Paleo diet emphasizes high-quality animal proteins, healthy fats, non-starchy vegetables, and excludes gluten, sugar, alcohol, dairy, legumes, and processed foods.
The Paleo diet is the most popular diet around today, and has a large celebrity following, including the Los Angeles Lakers, supermodel Adriana Lima, Tim McGraw (who credits it for his jaw-dropping 40-pound weight loss), Megan Fox, Jessica Biel, Robin Wright and Kellan Lutz.
Research suggests the Paleo diet accelerates weight loss, reduces blood pressure, and prevents cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, and even Alzheimer's. A recent study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicates the Paleo diet is twice as effective as other diets for promoting weight loss and reducing belly fat.
“Clinical trials have shown the Paleo diet is the optimum diet that can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, blood pressure, markers of inflammation, help with weight loss, reduce acne, promote optimum health and athletic performance,” said professor Loren Cordain, author of The Paleo Diet for Athletes and The Paleo Diet Cookbook.
The Paleo diet works well for women because it reduces the blood sugar spikes and hormone surges that spur weight gain and mood swings, said Nell Stephenson, author of Paleoista: Gain Energy, Get Lean.
'I Lost Weight Without Exercise on Gluten-Free Diet'
Keibler has been following her Paleo-style gluten-free diet since last summer. "I was eating protein and vegetables," said Stacy. "I did no gluten, no soy, no dairy, no sugar. I felt amazing. I actually lost weight without working out."
The statuesque blonde beauty is a fitness fanatic who does lots of running, hiking, Pilates, lunges and weight workouts. Stacy said the secret to her pregnancy fitness and slammin' bikini body is being active every day. "I always try to fit in some type of activity every day," she said.
Keibler, who previously dated actor George Clooney, is married to tech entrepreneur Jared Pobre.
