Stacey Dash took offense at Oprah's comparison of the Trayvon Martin case and the murder of Emmett Till. Ms Dash used a Malcom X quote to make her point, “If You aren’t careful, The newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed And loving the people who are doing the oppressing ~ Malcom X,” Dash tweeted, later adding “shame on you @oprah.” Dash included a link to Oprah's interview, where she made the comment that upset Ms Dash.
Ms Dash made news in 2012, when she endorsed Mitt Romney for president. She was brutally attacked for her endorsement. That episode evidently didn't deter Ms Dash from taking on TV icon, Oprah Winfrey.
In an interview on the Today show, Oprah said that the Emmitt Till murder and the Trayvon Martin case are the same, "in my mind." She went to say that President Obama was smart not to appear on Fox News Channel. Her comments on the Trayvon Martin/Emmitt Till cases have drawn fire from many on the right.
Trayvon Martin was shot during a violent struggle with George Zimmerman, in which he broke Zimmerman's nose and split his head open by banging it against the concrete sidewalk. Zimmerman was tried and found innocent by reason of self defense.
In the Till case, a group of white men became angry when Till tried to flirt with a white woman. They took him to a barn, where they beat him violently, ripped out one of his eyes before finally shooting him and dumping his body in the Tallahatchie River.
Talk show host, Glenn Beck, on his television show, called Oprah's comparison, a slap in the face of Till and others who were victims of segregation and racism in the South.
Ms Dash is best known as Alicia Silverstone's best friend in the movie Clueless.
