From the Tampa Bay Times, the SPPD are stating that a mother encouraged her young daughter to fight another child.
Recovered cellphone footage shows the suspect's 14-year-old daughter fighting another girl. The 31-year-old mother saw the girls fighting and didn't put a stop to it. Instead, she allegedly encouraged her daughter to "finish the fight".
A bystander showed the film to the police and the mother was arrested and charged with child abuse a few hours later. The suspect has since been released from the Pinellas County jail after posting a $5,000 bond. A search of her name shows a prior criminal record including an aggravated assault charge out of Hillsborough.
The real legal question will depend on the facts of this case: What, if any, legal responsibility did the mother have?
