March 17th, 2013 once again becomes St. Patrick's day. It is also know as the Feast of Saint Patrick and St.Patty's day.
Many people in green will be celebrating with parades, shamrocks and plenty of alcoholic beverages. This holiday dates back to the early 17th century and is a celebration of the patron Saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick.
Looking for ways to celebrate St. Patrick's day in Michigan, Here are some local events that feature festivals and parades.

Detroit,Michigan
55th Annual Detroit's St. Patrick’s Parade, 2:00 pm. Parade assembles at 1:00 pm on 6th Street and Michigan Ave. Starting promptly at 2:00 pm. The Parade, which includes marching and pipe & drum bands, color guard units, floats, clowns, novelty groups and marching units, moves west on Michigan Ave., passes the reviewing stand and disperses at 14th Street, approximately 2 hours later.

The Norman O'Brien Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will host the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Royal Oak on Saturday, March 16, 2013. The parade is an event to honor and celebrate Irish family traditions to include demonstrating Irish pride and heritage. The parade route will begin at the Royal Oak Middle School parking lot and proceed south on Washington, passing the judges/announcer reviewing stand at the intersection of Sixth and Washington, turn west on Seventh St. and end at the St. Mary Church/School parking lot. Parade organizers estimate approximately 300 participants and approx. 2,500 -3,500 in attendance. Plan on coming early to find a good spot to watch the parade!

Bay City, Michigan St Patrick's Day Parade
This year is the 59th Bay City St. Patrick's Day Parade. The 2013 parade will be led by Parade Marshal, Kelly Reed. The parade begins at 2:00 p.m. At Center and Park Avenues and ends at Wenona Park. Entries include the St. Patrick’s Day queen’s float, marching bands, pipe bands, and drill teams along with new entries. All will be marching to celebrate the Irish, our community and the beginning of spring. Please join us and we hope you and yours have a Happy St. Patrick's Day.
