St. Patricks Day in Atlanta

The old standby in Buckhead is Fado at 273 Buckhead Ave, Atlanta, GA 30305 (404)841-0066

Fado is right in the heart of buckhead. I have spent some of my most favorite St. Patrick’s Day’s here. It is a chain Irish Pub and is also in many other cities across the country but they have gone to extremes to make it authentic. Check out their website for all of the fun events http://fadoirishpub.com/atlanta/home

Fadó, pronounced f'doe, is the Irish expression meaning "long ago". The term was commonly used as the preface of old Irish stories told by the Seanchaí (Shana-kee) or storyteller. At Fadó we are telling the story of Ireland's rich and celebrated pub culture. It is a culture of hospitable surroundings, good food and good drink, and friendly conversation- what we call "craic".

We consider Fadó a different type of Irish pub. We blend the best of the old with the best of the new. Our decor and friendly staff evoke images of the great old pubs of Ireland whereas our style of operating - our music, food, beverages - connects more so with the contemporary pubs and bars of modern Ireland.

If you are stayin in or around midtown you should try out Ri Ra at 1080 Peachtree Street, NE, Atlanta, GA 30309 (404)-447-1700. Ri Ra is a chain pub but it is amazing. They even brought the giant carved bar in from a small town in Ireland and it lends to an authentic feel. Ri Ra was created from old pub salvage all imported from Ireland and some pieces dating back to the early 1800’s. Check out their website at http://www.rira.com/rira/atlanta.html#/live/ for weekly poker tournaments and events.

RiRa will open at 6:00am on St. Patrick’s Day Saturday March 17th, 2012 for breakfast and pints. Expect to be wowed with Irish dancers and Kathleen Donahue Irish Balladeer at 6:00pm the Irish Band –County Down Live will perform and at 9:00p.m. The band is Rice and Potatoes.

Limerick Junction in Virginia Highland is great for the Georgia Tech student or the midtown dweller. It is at 822 North Highland Ave. Atlanta, GA 30306 (404) 874-7147. I have seen some outstanding bands here both new and established.
