Come rain or come shine this Saturday, March 13th, the annual St. Patrick's Day parade will be held in downtown Hartford. Unfortunately, you are going to feel like you are in the heart of Ireland with cold rain gracing our presence. The parade begins at 11 am and starts at the Capitol building. After the parade and perhaps even before, everyone will surely want to celebrate with some corned beef and green beer. The restaurants and bars of downtown Hartford will be jam packed but always a good time. If you want to move away from the crowd and still enjoy the festivities, head to West Hartford.

Try the Corner Pug at 1046 New Britain Avenue for St. Patrick's Day specials including a corned beef and cabbage platter as well as a Guiness-braised lamb shank and Irish coffee bread pudding for dessert. That should warm you up after spending the morning in the rainy weather.

The night before the parade and all that corned beef you can hit up Fleming's Steakhouse for their "Go Green" wine dinner. A three course Irish-inspired menu will be served at 55 dollars per person. Start the meal with a sampling of Irish cheeses and fruits. For dinner, savor an Irish-style deconstructed Filet Mignon served with bacon, carrots, potatoes and thyme. And for the finale, indulge in a Guiness Stout Chocolate Cake with Chantilly Cream. Each course is served with a pairing of wine, included in the price.

Get out your cable knit sweaters and your green socks and head out in the rain for all the fun on this St. Patrick's Day. Erin Go Bragh!
