Where to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day? St.Patrick’s Day is March 17 which is on Monday this year. Hop in the car and head to Georgia to celebrate and paint the town green in Savannah. Savannah is about a 2 hour trip from Jacksonville.

Thousands of people are expected to visit Savannah to help celebrate the second largest St.Patrick’s Day Parade in the United States. The parade takes place in Savannah’s Historic District and will begin at the corner of Abercorn and Gwinnett Streets and end around the corner of Harris and Bull Street (Madison Square). The parade will begin around 10:15 am and lasts about three hours give or take. Family with smaller children may wish to sit around Abercorn Street , and from Hall to Jones Street or the beginning of the parade area. (Less partygoers)

Head on down to River Street where you’ll join thousands of other party goers. This is where you’ll find non stop entertainment, games and alcoholic beverages flowing freely. To drink during the event you must have a wristband which can be purchased for $5 daily throughout the event. If you’d like to spend the night you are probably out of luck this close to the event date. For a day at the parade plan on arriving early, pack a lunch some sunscreen and chair and plan to have a great time!
