St. Patrick's Day items for your pets from Animal Snackers bakery

The 2nd Street Market has all kinds of great foods, music and dancing this weekend to help you celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but have you seen all the options they have for helping your pets celebrate?! Why not share the fun with your dog, cat, rabbit or other pet?

Your pet will be celebrating the wearin' o' the green in this festive scarf from Animal Snackers!

You can visit the market this weekend and enjoy live Celtic music and dancing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Market Pavilion on the East end of the market. The Collins Connection will be performing traditional hornpipes, jigs and ballads followed by dancers from the Celtic Academy of Irish Dance.

While there, check out the many great items for your pets at Animal Snackers gourmet pet bakery at the same end of the market. Animal Snackers Bakery has all-natural, gourmet snacks for dogs, cats and herbivores, as well as some very classy bandanas and toys for the four-legged bunch.

The proceeds from this shop support the homeless pets at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, and all treats are homemade by dedicated volunteers of the Friends of the Humane Society.

There are treats for every pet’s preference, and ingredients are listed on a card next to the treats so pets with sensitivities to egg or wheat can still enjoy a healthy gourmet snack. Bunnies love the Sesame Crunchers and Rottie Biscotti (both are vegetarian offerings) and at least 40 different varieties of treats are offered weekly, out of a rotating group of over 70 different recipes.

Some of the baked treats are little works of art in themselves: little shamrock cookies and other St. Patrick’s Day items are available this weekend. Most of the savory treats are priced 3/$1.00 but the extra large or extra fancy may sell from 50 cents to $2.00.

Dog and cat toys are also available, with cat toys starting at 50 cents. Volunteers make most/all of the catnip toys, using extremely fresh dried catnip. There are plush dog toys, some with squeakers, and hard rubber Kong toys. There are also festive St. Patrick's Day bandanas!

Both the market and the bakery are open three days every week. Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
