Top of the mornin to ya, it’s St. Patrick’s Day. St. Patrick’s Day is a day filled with drinking, eating, and green all over. I-rish it was everyday! The Los Angeles farmers markets are no strangers to this magical day.
Luck has it that spring is finally here and the markets are filled with a rainbow of colorful produce to prove it. All those wintergreens have vanished and sprung an assortment of green greens that will fill your green grocery bags to the brim. The kale, Swiss chard and spinach are growing to Leprechaun heights. The greens are out of control!
Potted Marigolds’ are found at the end of every rainbowed-colored fruit table. Apples, oranges, pears, and grapefruits are the real lucky charms. Potatoes in all shapes and sizes and cabbages the size of your head will make you want to jig in place. And with bagpipers and fiddlers playing timeless Irish classics near by, it’ll feel like you’re in an Irish Pub in Dublin.
Although green beer is not available at a farmers market, fresh green cucumber limeades and avocado shakes are available for all your Irish needs.
For meat lovers, fresh bison and corned beef are available for any authentic Irish delicacies. Dried sage is sold to bring good luck into any house or home.
Think of a farmers market while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day -who knows you might even spot a four-leaf clover!
