St Patrick's Day cookbook: Irish soda bread recipe

I prefer a more authentic soda bread for St Patty's dinner. This one has no raisins and no sugar.

Find everything you need to make this easy loaf at your local Meijer.

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 t soda
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  1. In a large bowl, sift flour, soda and salt. Make a well. Pour in buttermilk. Mix til ingredients are incorporated. Roll onto lightly floured surface and knead for about a minute or so. Shape into a round and cut an "x" on the top with a sharp knife.
  2. Preheat oven and cast iron skillet at 400°.
  3. Add round and bake about 35 minutes, or til golden brown.
  4. Cool and slice!
