St. Mark to Host MLK Celebration for Last Time

St. Mark will host its annual MLK celebration, “Keep the Dream Alive” for the last time on January 18, 2010 at 3:00 pm, 3500 Montgomery Rd.

By next January St. Mark, Evanston, St. Agnes in Bond Hill, St. Andrew, Avondale and St. Martin de Porres in Lincoln Heights will have merged to form one parish due to reduced attendance and lack of priests. Bro. Hugh Henderson, CPPS, “Keep the Dream Alive” organizer explained, “It is a reality that someday soon the Archdiocese of Cincinnati will have less than 60 priests to serve. I am encouraged to know that one of Archbishop Schnurr’s goals is to increase vocations and pray that we can.”

In the meantime, while it has not been decided where the new parish will be, Bro Hugh promises to keep the annual celebration going in whatever parish he serves.
