If you're planning a St. Louis "staycation" this summer, KaBOOM.org has a playground finder to help your family locate a great place to play near you. Just plug in your zip code and the website will pull up tons of playgrounds.
When you first look at the map, you may be overwhelmed with school playgrounds - which were probably loaded into the system by default. Click the "search filter" button to select locations with star ratings to find parks with playgrounds. Don't narrow the search features too much, or you'll miss a lot of good parks that haven't been rated yet.
Help your fellow St. Louis moms find great places to play by rating your neighborhood park. You can join KaBOOM (its free) and add your own favorite parks. You can upload photos, rate parks and write reviews.
It looks like most of the major parks have been listed, but I know for sure most of the playgrounds in town have not been added yet. KaBOOM is a work in progress, so log in and help out! I know I'll be adding some of our favorite places to play as we tour St. Louis playgrounds this summer.
But KaBOOM isn't just a playground locater. It's actually a national non-profit that "empowers communities to build playgrounds."
We passionately believe that play has purpose, and that unstructured play in particular helps make children happier, fitter, smarter, more socially adept and creative. - KaBOOM website
