This weekend at the movies, you can experience the horror of “The Woman in Black” with Harry Potter veteran Daniel Radcliffe, rescue whales with “Big Miracle”, or test out some superpowers with “Chronicle”. The following films are opening everywhere this Friday:
“The Woman in Black”: This horror film directed by James Watkins follows Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe), a young lawyer who travels to a small town and learns about the fierce ghost of a woman terrorizing those who live there. Runtime: 95 minutes. Rated PG-13 for thematic material and violence/disturbing images.
“Big Miracle”: Based on a true story, this drama directed by Ken Kwapis follows a reporter seeking a story (John Krasinski) and a Greenpeace worker (Drew Barrymore) as they fight to free a family of whales trapped under the ice outside a small Alaskan town. Runtime: 107 minutes. Rated PG for language.
“Chronicle”: Directed by Josh Trank, this sci-fi movie in the style of a found footage film follows three teenagers who find out they have superpowers. While they have fun with them at first, they soon realize the potential—and danger—of their powers, which threatens their friendship as they cause some of them to embrace their dark side. Runtime: 84 minutes. Rated PG-13 for intense action and violence, thematic material, some language, sexual content and teen drinking.
