Project: Comic Con comes to the Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel in St. Louis this weekend, September 21 and 22, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This annual independent comics conference features big names in the comics business. This year brings George Perez (the Avengers, Wonder Woman), Scott Lobdell (Superman, Iron Man), Phil Hester (Green Hornet, Swamp Thing), and Angus Oblong (The Oblongs, Creepy Susie) among others. See the full lineup of writers, artists, and editors at the Project: Comic Con website. Artist’s Alley will feature even more talent, including independent comics organizations and publishers. Artists from St. Louis-based Ink and Drinks Comics will be sketching and offering their creations for sale. Anyone can join in the Pro/Am Sketch Jam, 6:00-9:30 p.m. Friday night and draw alongside the professionals for $12 per seat, live models provided. Children can use online templates to enter the Create a Hero drawing contest. Aspiring writers can buy some face time with one of a number of professional writers to ask questions and learn about the business. The costume contest with age categories starts at 3:00 p.m. Saturday (read the costume and prop policy). Saturday night’s after-party starts at 9:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online for $20 for a 2-day pass, kids 10 and under get in free and kids ages 11-15 pay half price. Bring in some canned goods for the food drive.
