St. John and Wichita South highlight Pratt Girls Tourney

The Pratt Girls Tournament of Champions will be played starting this Thursday Jan. 24th through Saturday the 26th. This year’s tourney should be a good tourney with several storylines of note. Here’s a breakdown of the 1st round matchups.

  • St. John/ Hudson(10-0) vs. Wichita North (0-9) 4pm Jan 24th

St. John’s is ranked #1 in this tourney and #3 in in class 1A this season. They have been crushing their opponents so far this season and should compete for the eventual championship.

This sets up to be the most competitive matchup as #4 seed Maize South takes on the #5 seed in Chaparral. Maize South is on a two game winning streak coming into the game after wins at Nickerson and Winfield. Look for Maize South to advance to play the #1 seed in St. Johns in the semi finals.

  • Wichita South(8-1) vs. Medicine Lodge 2pm Jan 24

Wichita South is the #2 seed in this tourney and also the #2 class 6A ranked team in the country. South brings a wealth of young talent that could dominate everyone else in this tourney. Look for South to bring home the championship trophy.

  • Pratt (6-4) vs. Larned(2-9) 8pm Jan 24

The host team in Pratt, #3 seed in this tourney should be able to get a chance at playing Wichita South in the semis. They’ve won three in a row coming into the tourney.
