ST. HELENS - The St. Helens Police Department is investigating the death of a local man who was discovered in a dumpster at a local pharmacy located on Columbia River Highway.

Police say that Ryan Donald Neveau, 26, of St. Helens, was discovered inside the dumpster behind Walgreens Pharmacy. During their investigation, police determined that he suffocated after being trapped under the heavy steel lid.

Police Chief Terry Moss said that a delivery driver discovered Neveau’s body and alerted store employees, who contacted the police just after eight a.m. Officers are not sure how long the victim had been in the dumpster, but speculate that it may have been several hours.

Moss said that investigation into Neveau’s cause of death is complete, although his department is still asking questions to determine why Neveau might have been in the dumpster in the first place.
