Daniel W. Beauchamp has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon (3-counts). Late Sunday night just before Midnight, Beauchamp ran outside to his front yard after his wife observed several teenagers with toilet paper outside their home. Reportedly, Beauchamp was waiving a loaded shotgun as they subjects ran to their vehicle. They stated to police officers that he waived the shotgun at them but never fired a single shot at them. It wasn't until moments later that Beauchamp open-fired as his neighbor's car passed in between him and the subjects. The driver, 61 said that she heard a loud pop and Mr. Beauchamp yelling. Also in the vehicle, was the neighbor's sister, 64 and their 26-year old foreign exchange student. When they pulled into their garage they noticed the vehicle at been hit by a shotgun shell in the left front tire. Beauchamp admitted to investigators to shooting at the vehicle and is currently incarcerated the St. Charles City Jail with a $20,000 bond.
Would someone please explain to me why people insist on the need for assault rifles and shotguns instead of hand revolvers as their need for protection. And, what makes someone think that it would be okay to open fire with any type of gun at fleeing subjects over a simply TP prank? What is wrong with people these days? It is incidents like this why I will continue to fight against the right to bare arms unless they are law enforcement.
