Friday night was Homecoming at St. Louis Park but it was Christopher Schieffer who put a damper on the festivities as he scored two touchdowns to lead the St. Anthony Village huskies to a 26-13 win over the host Orioles.
Justice Spriggs brought order to the Huskie court in the first quarter as he threw a 52 yard touchdown pass to Schieffer. The Orioles evened the score when Robert Griffin Jr. ran up the middle for a 15 yard touchdown.
Both teams tallied in the second quarter. Spriggs found the end zone on a one yard run that came after he came close on a completion to Zach Sigglekow,. There weren't a lot of highlights for St. Louis Park quarterback Quinn Livdahl but one that stood out was a 10 yard touchdown pass to Henry Albrecht to tie the game at 13.
Neither team reached the end zone in the third quarter. St. Anthony Village had a touchdown by Schieffer called back due to a holding penalty.
The Huskies would take the lead seven seconds into the fourth quarter when Schieffer scored his second touchdown on a 33 yard pass from Spriggs. They would wrap up the scoring after beginning their drive at the Oriole 16 yard line, capped by a one yard score from Donovan Jones. St. Louis Park was hurt by penalties throughout the game and they were unable to catch up.
Griffin Jr. led the Orioles with 151 yards on 23 carries.
St. Anthony Village improved their record to 1-3 and will play at Brooklyn Center next Friday, September 27 at 7 PM. St. Louis Park fell to 0-4 and will play at Cooper also on the 27th at 7 PM.
Noah Fortmeyer and Suh Koller were named the 2013 St. Louis Park High school Homecoming king and queen.
