SSNA offers $20 spay/neuter for kittens and puppies

Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance is offering a special discount for the month of June where low income families can have their kitten or puppy altered for only a $20 fee. PetSmart Charities is funding this special rate and it is available to residents of Sumner County as well as the surrounding counties.

Kittens and puppies can become pregnant at just 4 months of age so this initiative is designed to help young pets remain "Precious...not parents". As long as your puppy or kitten is at least 8 weeks old and weights at least 2 lbs, a spay or neuter can be scheduled. If you are not sure how much your pet weighs, simply weigh yourself on a bathroom scale, then weigh yourself holding your pet and subtract the difference to find out your pet's weight.

For cats and kittens, SSNA offers additional veterinary services at a considerable discount. The rabies shot is included for free with your cat's spay or neuter. A distemper shot can be added for just $7. The feline leukemia/AIDS test is only $18, a must-have for any cat or kitten who has been living outside. SSNA also offers a wide-range dewormer for $4 and a microchip for $20.

For dogs and puppies, additional services are also available for a very low rate. The rabies shot is included with spay or neuter. A Parvo/distemper shot is only $7 and deworming is $6. For dogs six months and older, a heartworm test is only $12 and for dogs of all ages, a microchip is just $20. The microchip includes a tag for your dog's collar and lifetime registration.

The mission of Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance is to save lives through spaying and neutering pets who would otherwise breed and create more unwanted puppies and kittens. If your pet is pregnant now, please consider having the babies spayed and neutered before adopting them into new homes. This program is limited by the number of slots available for appointments, so please call now to make your reservation for a June spay or neuter. SSNA's phone number is (615) 452-2233 and they are available to schedule appointments from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The clinic is located at 1033-B Union School Road in Gallatin, TN.
