In their latest financial briefing, Square Enix revealed their plans to further grow their business. Three key factors were discussed: Globalization, Becoming Network Centric and Strengthen Own-IPs.
The latter should spark some interests among gamers. For the fiscal year that will end on March of 2011, one of the key topics for Square Enix is to “create new AAA brands” in order to reinforce their internal intellectual properties.
Since merging in 2003, Square Enix has bought Taito and Eidos Interactive. Their list of intellectual properties includes Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Tomb Raider, Hitman, Sapce Invaders and others. It looks like Square Enix will try to add more to their list in the near future.
The launch of Final Fantasy XIV later this year on the PC and Playstation 3 is also expected to play a big role in Square Enix’s growth under the “Becoming Network Centric” category for the company’s next fiscal year.

I think they have managed to create a new IP this year, called Chaos Rings.
