According to Square Enix’s Facebook page on August 27, digital sales of “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” were temporarily suspending due to server capacity issues. According to Square’s status update, they are “currently experiencing extremely long wait times for users to be able to log in and play”. They are now focusing on expanding their server capacity for the MMO.
This is not the only issue users have experienced with the “Final Fantasy” MMO, which just launched for PC and PlayStation 3. Character creation was halted on seventeen servers. Those who received early access as a pre-order bonus also had to deal with server queues and emergency maintenance. Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida apologized on the official forums for these troubles.
“Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” was developed to fix issues with the game’s initial release, which was only available on PC. It will be available on PlayStation 4 on a later date.
