Spyker Supercars to Be Sold at Saab Dealerships

Swedish supercar builder Spyker is now set to sell their newest exotic car lineup at Saab dealers across the US.  Spyker hopes to have 90 dealerships up and running by the end of 2011.  They should have about 60 dealers by the end of 2010.

Spyker purchased Saab from General Motors back in February and is now focused on making their cars profitable with help from the Saab parts bin and engineering resources.  Selling more cars shouldn't be a problem with that many dealers, since they only sold 36 cars in 2009.

Currently you can order the C8 Aileron in Targa or Spyder configuration.  It's 4.2 liter V8 will rush the entry level car to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds on to a top speed of 187 miles per hour.

There are also larger engine and turbo options that will make the Spyker C8 Aileron a 200+ mile per hour supercar.  Prices start at around $215,000.

Spyker also made the C12 starting in 2006 which is powered by a twelve cylinder Audi W12 engine.  There was also a special version bodied by Zagato, the Spyker C12 Zagato (pictured above).

The Spyker D8 Peking-to-Paris pictured above is an SUV crossover which features four doors and high performance.  It is not under production yet, but Spyker received over 100 orders for the car when it was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show.

Spyker hopes to acheive a zero to 60 time of under 5 seconds for the sporty looking D8 which as indicated by the name will be V8 powered.  They also hope to keep some styling cues from the C8 and C12 to keep a bit of family resemblence across their model lineup.

Peking to Paris was an endurance rally race held in 1907 in which Spyker took 2nd place over all with a basically stock car.   This was no small feat considering the race lasted three months!

Part of being a successful exotic car company is standing out from the crowd, and this I think is one of Spyker's strongest attributes.  Spyker owners will definitely make a statement by cruising around in the C8 or D8 models.  I'm looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Spyker in the near future to see how they stack up against the formidable competition.
