A Severance, Colo. man faces two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty for tying his ex-girlfriend's sheep to trees in Blue Spruce Park on May 4 without food or water for not agreeing to meet him reported the GreeleyTribune.com.

According to the Weld County Sheriff's Office deputies, the woman who had dated William Brent Allen, 42, no longer wanted to be involved with him. In obvious desperation, Allen threatened to tie up her sheep if the woman wouldn't meet with him. The woman refused.

Hours later, Allen is alleged to have repeatedly texted the woman telling her about the sheep and also calling the woman derogatory and insulting names.

One of the sheep strangled to death trying to escape. The other sheep was found later that day wandering in the area.

Allen was held in the Weld County Jail in lieu of $7,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on June 19.
