Beer lover’s it is time to celebrate South Florida’s explosion of craft beer. With craft beer tap handles displacing big brewer’s tap handles, the revolutions has begun. The fact that Miami has bars dedicated to craft beers means that Miami has arrived as a top beer city. The next logical step to having beer bars is a festival to celebrate all things beer. Luckily Miami has Tony Albelo. When Tony got into drinking craft beers he wanted more, a friend told him they have a beer festival in Jupiter. Tony loves Miami and thought we needed a beer festival of our own.
Grovetoberfest was born and the first was held in October 2011. With over 200 beers available to try 5,000 people showed up and enjoyed the event. Live music, interactive cooking demonstrations and contests filled the day. Grovetoberfest 2012 attracted 6,500 hundred craft beer lovers to Coconut Grove. When the organizers asked festivalgoers what more the wanted in the future? 95% answered they would like to have a Spring beer fest.
“Sprung Spring Beer Festival” was Tony’s answer. March 9, 2013 over 150 beers will be poured. Instead of Oktoberfest beers and winter brews this festival will feature spring and summer beers, a couple of which will debut at Sprung. Of course there will be live music, food and oversized bar games. The organizers have subtitled this event as, “Celebrating the craft beer lifestyle.” For all the information and tickets visit www.Igotsprung.com. Go to Groupon and get discounts on tickets through this weekend. Call your beer loving friends and head over to Coconut Grove Saturday March 9. Miami’s craft beer scene is finally arriving and thanks to Tony Albelo it will continue to grow. Thanks Tony!
